Using the Inventory Report message to optimise stock management

In order to minimize cost and avoid tying up too much capital, each partner needs to have an accurate picture of stocks in the system. It is therefore essential to ensure flawless communication of stock movement and stock balance figures between business partners. The INVRPT – Inventory Report guideline is intended to help business partners in the supply chain to implement a harmonized interface which facilitates the synchronisation of inventory information in a timely and automated manner. Common scenarios supported by the INVRPT message include: Supplier owned warehouse close to the customer production site Consignment stock held at customer site (incl. Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) processes) Supplier warehouse managed by third party logistics service provider (3PL) Customer warehouse managed by 3PL Extended workbench Wheel-Hotel
